In March of 2005, FashionGates.com interviewed Cycle 4’s Brandy Rusher following her appearance and elimination from Top Model. The interview discusses how she felt about her portrayal on the show. Here is the text from the article (written by Fashion Gates Staff):

Brandy Rusher Won’t Be America’s Next Top Model

Brandy Rusher who was among the 14 finalists to compete in the forth edition of America’s Next Top Model was eliminated from the show on Wednesday, cutting down the number of participants to 11. The 20-year-old cosmetology student from Houston, TX was forced to leave the show because of her negative attitude and big mouth, reports Houston Chronicle. However the young beauty claims she was negatively portrayed.

“I feel like they showed the world a lot more of the attitude than what was actually given to them,” she said Thursday. “But it’s OK because it kept the camera on me, so the world got to see a lot of me, bad or good. Everything happens for a reason.

“I don’t believe I have anger-management issues,” Brandy told the Chronicle. “I believe my biggest problem was being defensive. When I felt someone was coming at me wrong, I would defend myself. It’s all a part of how I grew up.”

The beauty, who appeared in the show with a bright red Afro, revealed that she has never done modeling before and she doesn’t even have a portfolio. Now, Brandy says, she’d like to pursue a modeling career and become a fashion designer, too.

“I see myself as a model-slash-fashion designer because it’s a natural gift; it’s been with me since I was little,” she said. “I never knew what a model was because I didn’t grow up having money. I think I read my first Seventeen magazine when I was 15. But I know everyone has gifts. Modeling and fashion design ≈ that’s what I see myself (doing).”

The show, hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks, features 14 hopeful girls living together in a chic Los Angeles loft, with cameras catching every moment, hoping to win the grand prize – a modeling contract Ford Models, a fashion spread in Elle magazine, and a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl.
